We recently were asked to intervene in a terrible hoarding case. Almost 20 schnauzers were living in horror, subject to terrible conditions. The dogs were confined to a house with no access to the outdoors, and had been living and sleeping in their own excrement. All of these sweet dogs are now safe, but they are extremely fearful and will need weeks of TLC to help them get healthy and back to normal.
This rescue mission comes at a very challenging time for Furry Friends. Our funds are extremely low due to the COVID crisis and caring for these sweet animals is going to take a lot. We also believe two of the dogs may be pregnant. However Furry Friends never, ever says no. If you can help in any way we ask you to please donate here for their care.
These dogs have a long road to recovery but we know with your help soon every single one is going to have the new life that they desperately deserve. Skip to main content.

We would love to talk with you about SFRA and our commitment to our furry buddies. Our Donors…. Your generous contributions and attendance at our Midwest SchnauzerFest fundraiser pay the veterinary bills and purchase food and supplies throughout the year that keeps us going. The Rescued By Lisa Gray in Memory of Tony I invited you into my home without hesitation I don't where you came from, or really who you are You looked at me with big brown eyes wondering who I was or if I would cause you any harm.
As you crawled upon my lap and laid your head onto my heart I knew you had found your forever home cause I loved you from the start. As the days, months, and years went by My love for you grew stronger until the day you let me know you could stay with me no longer As I looked into those big brown eyes I sadly let you go.
Even though I miss you and think of you each night you taught me that another would never take your place but they would always be love at first sight. Thanks for our Belly Band donation. If you need Belly Bands, you can help rescue at the same time. Follow us on Facebook. We appreciate your efforts and send many thanks to Dori and her to Abi at Rainbow Bridge for your donation.
Each rescued dog is brought up to date on vaccinations, checked for heartworms and put on preventative, checked for other parasites, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and has other necessary medical procedures performed.
Each dog is fostered in a loving foster home and offered medical rehabilitation, housebreaking and socialization skills, and given the chance to learn to trust again. Prospective homes are carefully screened to match the needs of each individual rescued dog in order to provide the new forever home not only with the best companionship, but also to best meet the needs of the dog.Frankie our Rescue Schnauzer has arrived to Schnauzerville! PART 1 (Without Music)
The average rescued Miniature Schnauzer is between four and seven years old. We occasionally have a puppy and usually have a waiting list for them. Flexibility in requirements on the part of an adopter means a shorter wait in adopting. Reasons why dogs are surrendered to shelters or directly to SFRA are many and varied. We absolutely believe that each of our dogs will make a wonderful addition to most homes. Very often, this adoption fee does not cover the expenses incurred for a rescued dog.
SFRA is not associated with any other rescue or any parent organization. For that reason, SFRA is solely dependent upon generous public donations through PayPal, direct donations or donations of gift cards to pet stores for goods and food, fundraisers through Gift Shoppe purchases, Ebay auctions, and those attending our annual fundraiser, Midwest SchnauzerFest September So…sit back and visit us often…. Things to Consider On a hot summer day a swimming pool is a great solution for cooling down and having some fun.Schnauzer Friends for Rescue and Adoption is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers who are trying to match "orphaned" Miniature Schnauzers with loving adoptive homes.
While we are based in Cincinnati, Ohio, we do adopt all over Ohio, in northern and central Kentucky, and southern Indiana. A popular misconception about a rescue dog is that they are old, "throwaway" dogs that no one else wants. While some of the dogs we get in are elderly, most are between the ages of 3 and 6. A great majority that we receive are males. All are spayed or neutered and up to date on shots by the time they are ready to be adopted. We work very hard to match each dog to the right adoptive home.
To that end, we screen each dog to determine his or her needs and temperment. We also screen adoptive parents to make sure that they get the dog that will provide the best companionship for them. People surrender these dogs for many reasons. Housebreaking is a common reason also one that is generally easily corrected with consistency. Some of the owners can no longer physically care for the dog. Others are moving and can't take the dog with them. Still others insist that the dog has attempted to injure their children.
Whatever the reason, we evaluate the dog ourselves to determine his needs. We want to find permanent homes for these guys. Miniature Schnauzers have a lot of love to give.
All they need is someone to give them a chance.
Schnauzer Love Rescue, Inc.
Another misconception is that these dogs are "free. Rarely does the adoption fee cover the actual expense of the dog. Therefore we have periodic fundraisers and are always accepting of donations through check or PayPal. Every dog will be heartworm negative, spayed or neutered, and up to date on shots at the time of adoption. We are in need of loving Foster Homes.
